What is trmnl.link?

trmnl.link gives TRMNL plugins something they don't have out of the box: a place to store and update data. TRMNL plugins are read-only by default — they fetch from an API and display it. trmnl.link adds the missing piece, so a plugin can also be written to: a todo list you tick off, a chore chart the kids update from their phones.

Today, trmnl.link powers a small set of first-party apps that we build and run — it's not yet a general service for every plugin (see For developers).

How it works

  1. Connect your device. Pick an app below and create a device — no account needed. You get a secret passphrase to paste into the plugin's settings.
  2. Your device shows the data. On each refresh, the plugin fetches the latest data and renders it on the e-ink screen, with a QR code in the corner.
  3. Edit from your phone. Scan the QR code to open a quick editor — no login. Anyone holding the device can update it; changes appear at the next refresh.

Apps

Todos

A simple shared todo list — add items, tick them off, clear them out. Good for a family to-do or a shared list stuck to the fridge.

Chores

A family chore chart: kids down one side, chores across the day (morning / noon / night), with daily completion tracking.

For developers

trmnl.link's apps are currently first-party — built and maintained by us. We may open the service to other plugin authors down the road, so any TRMNL plugin could add read/write storage without standing up its own backend. If that's something you'd want, we'd love to hear from you.
